Orbix Education is proud to announce the setting up of its first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project with the cooperation of the English Language Training Centre (ELTC), Ministry of Education (MOE).
The first meeting held on 21 June 2019 in ELTC proved fruitful as activities and programmes for students and teachers were proposed and agreed upon by Orbix International School (OIS) and ELTC. Proposed activities for students include Story Telling, Public Speaking, Students’ Forum, Reading Programme, Sports and Games and Debates amongst others. For teachers, there will be Lesson Observation for Mathematics and Science, Creative Teaching and Innovation, Sharing of teaching strategies and Teacher Professional Talks.
On 10thJuly, ELTC had a high-profile meeting with Orbix Education, ELO, DELO and BP Swasta in Orbix International School, Muar.
From now on, Orbix Education with be working very closely with ELTC in the move to develop students’ creative and critical thinking skills. This project will raise teachers’ confidence in using English in the teaching of Mathematics and Science and provide a platform for teachers to work professionally and share ideas and teaching strategies. This is in line with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad’s campaign in the revitalisation of the use of English amongst the citizens.
This CSR project shows the company’s sense of responsibility towards the community with special focus on education. The project will further aid the company’s mission and serve as a guide to what the company represents for its stakeholders.
CSR is a process whereby companies integrate social, environmental and ethical issues into their business operations and strategy. Orbix Education voluntarily pursues this strategy because it believes that it is the right thing to do – ‘to give back to society’; this truly reflects the principle of the Chairman, Dato Albert Ong, JP. This is the moral responsibility of Orbix Education and the company will continue to support and maintain its CSR project with ELTC.
